Piastri becomes 27th Formula 1 driver to achieve a ‘grand slam’: Dutch GP stats | 2025 Dutch Grand Prix stats and facts

Oscar Piastri’s ninth career victory was notable as it gives him the same number of wins as both his team mate Lando Norris and manager Mark Webber.

But something made this achievement even more special: it was also Piastri’s first ‘grand slam’. The McLaren driver won from pole position, led every lap and set fastest lap.

He became the 27th driver in Formula 1 history to achieve the feat. That total includes a quarter of today’s field: Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Fernando Alonso and Charles Leclerc have all taken grand slams.

Piastri put himself on course for victory by taking the fifth pole position of his career. That gives him as many as F1’s original world champion Giuseppe Farina, plus 1982 champion Keke Rosberg as well as Chris Amon, Clay Regazzoni and Patrick Tambay.

This was also Piastri’s 33rd consecutive points finish. He is now tied with Hamilton for third place in the all-time list of most consecutive scores. Hamilton holds the record with 48 and Verstappen is second on 43.

McLaren were seven laps away from equalling the all-time record for most consecutive one-two finishes by a team. Norris held second place behind Piastri until a technical failure put him out. The record for five one-twos in a row is shared jointly by Mercedes (on three separate occasions between 2014 and 2019) and Ferrari (twice between 1952 and 2002).

Max Verstappen’s strong record in his home race continued. Having won his first three appearances at Zandvoort he has now finished second in the other two.

Norris’s retirement promoted Isack Hadjar to the final podium position. He did so in only his 14th career start (he did not officially start the Australian Grand Prix after crashing out on the formation lap).

Hadjar is the fifth-youngest driver in F1 history to stand on the podium. The other four are all on the current grid including record-holder Verstappen and Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who took his first podium earlier this year in Canada. Lance Stroll and Lando Norris also scored their first podium finishes at a younger age than Hadjar.

He gave Racing Bulls their first podium finish under their current identity, which they took this year. It is the sixth podium finish for the team under its various different names: they scored none as RB last year, two during their four-year spell as AlphaTauri (the last of which was Pierre Gasly’s third place in the 2021 Azerbaijan Grand Prix) and three as Toro Rosso between 2006 and 2019. All those came under their ownership by Red Bull – the team never reached the podium under its original name Minardi.

Alexander Albon finished fifth for the fourth time this year. That 10-point haul was vital, as it ensured Aston Martin did not gain on them. However Hadjar’s result brought Racing Bulls five points closer in the fight for fifth in the constructors’ championship.

Yuki Tsunoda finally scored his first points for Red Bull after seven consecutive no-scores. That’s the longest point-less streak for a Red Bull driver since David Coulthard in 2008. However this is not an entirely fair comparison: points were only awarded to the top eight finishers then, and Coulthard had a ninth-place finish during that run, which would have scored two points today.

However Ferrari failed to score any points as Hamilton and Leclerc went out in separate crashes at the same corner. This was their first no-score in over a year, the last coming in Canada last season. It leaves McLaren as the only team to have scored points in every race this year.
