Gasly signs new deal keeping him at Alpine until end of 2028 | Formula 1

Pierre Gasly has agreed a new contract with Alpine which will keep him at the Enstone-based team until at least 2028.

He is in his third season with the team, with which he achieved podium finishes at Zandvoort in 2023 and Interlagos last year. However this year has been less successful and the Enstone-based team has fallen to last in the championship standings.

Gasly’s decision is a vote of confidence in the team which has endured a difficult 12 months, during which time it has changed team principals twice. Owners Renault also decided to end its power unit development programme and the team will switch to using customer Mercedes engines in 2026. The arrival of a new CEO in charge of Renault, Francois Provost, also raised questions over its commitment to F1.

However Gasly believes Alpine was the best option for him. “As a Frenchman, especially, driving for a French car company, makes me feel very proud,” he said. “Since I joined in 2023, I have always felt that this team is the right place to be for the future.”

“Flavio [Briatore’s] support and belief in me, Francois’ commitment to the Formula 1 project, as well as the people we have in Enstone made this a natural decision,” he added, “and I want to be here in years to come and deliver on our joint objective: to win races and world championships.”
