Championship leader Oscar Piastri has been summoned to the stewards over an alleged incident during the second practice session.
Piastri is under investigation for potentially failing to slow for yellow flags during the session. He has been called to meet the stewards at 5:40pm local time.
Footage from Piastri’s onboard camera showed he approached turn one as a yellow flag was displayed. It was shown because Pierre Gasly had run wide into the run-off area and was rejoining the track.
Piastri’s speed remained high as he approached the yellow flag. The signal appeared to switch from a yellow warning flag to a white flag, indicating a slow car on the track ahead, as he reached it.
The McLaren driver ended the session 12th fastest. He failed to complete his qualifying simulation run after brushing a barrier at turn 15.
Lewis Hamilton served a five-place grid drop at the last race for failing to slow sufficiently for yellow flags during a reconnaissance lap at the previous round.
Piastri is currently on six penalty points. Any driver who reaches 12 penalty points incurs an automatic ban.
